Stepper motor manufacturers: how to choose the right stepper motor and driver
1. Selection of stepping motor torque The holding torque of the stepping motor is similar to the "power" called by the traditional motor. Of course, there are essential differences. The physical structure of the stepping motor is completely different from the AC and DC motors, and the output power of the motor is variable. Which type of motor is usually selected according to the required torque (that is, the torque of the object to be driven). Roughly speaking, if the torque is below 0.8N.m, choose 20, 28, 35, 42 (the diameter or squareness of the motor, unit: mm); if the torque is about 1N.m, it is more appropriate to choose the 57 motor. When the torque is several N.m or more, it is necessary to choose a stepper motor with specifications such as 86, 110, and 130.
2. The selection of the motor speed should also be specially considered for the motor speed. Because the output torque of the motor is inversely proportional to the speed. That is to say, the torque of the stepper motor at low speed (several hundred revolutions per minute or lower, and its output torque is large), and the torque at high speed rotation (1000 rpm - 9000 rpm) is very small. Of course, some working conditions require high-speed motors, so it is necessary to measure the coil resistance, inductance and other indicators of the stepping motor. Select a motor with a slightly smaller inductance, as a high-speed motor, a larger output torque can be obtained. On the contrary, in the case of requiring low speed and high torque, it is better to choose the inductance in ten or tens of mH, and the resistance should be larger.
3. Selection of no-load starting frequency of stepper motor The no-load starting frequency of stepper motor is usually called "no-load frequency". This is an important indicator when purchasing a motor. If it is required to start and stop frequently in an instant, and the speed is around 1000 rpm (or higher), "acceleration start" is usually required. If you need to start directly to achieve high-speed operation, it is best to choose a reactive or permanent magnet motor. The "idle frequency" of these motors is relatively high.
4. The number of phases of the stepper motor is selected. The number of phases of the stepper motor is selected. Many customers pay little attention to this content, and most of them buy it casually. In fact, motors with different phases have different working effects. The more the number of phases, the smaller the step angle can be, and the smaller the vibration during operation. In most cases, two-phase motors are used more often. In the high-speed and high-torque working environment, it is more practical to choose a three-phase stepper motor.
5. According to the use environment of the stepping motor, the special stepping motor can be waterproof and oil-proof, and can be used in some special occasions. For example, an underwater robot needs a water discharge motor. For special purpose motors, it is necessary to select them in a targeted manner.
6. According to your actual situation, whether you need a stepping motor with special specifications and special specifications, please communicate with us, and process the order within the scope allowed by technology. For example, the diameter, length, and extension direction of the shaft.
